We
would like to introduce ourselves, we are Jo and Tracey and together
we make ‘Indigo Inspirations’. We felt that we would like to tell you
about our growing company, as sometimes buying things over the Internet
can be a bit impersonal. We don’t believe it has to be, so we treat all
our customers as if they’ve just walked into our little shop.
We run our business together, with the support of our large and lovely
families. We have three children each, and all, from Sasha aged 7(Jo’s
youngest) to Jasmine Aged 14 (Tracey’s eldest) have a role to play in
our day-to-day activities. (Check out our Photo Gallery soon to meet
the whole crew!)
We are blessed to live in Beautiful Mullumbimby, Northern NSW, where all our children attend The Shearwater Steiner School. This is how things all began for us when we noticed how difficult it was for ourselves and other parents to source top quality, natural materials for our craftwork.
With so much synthetic product around it was a full time job finding
pure wool for knitting, fleece for felting and pure wool felt to create
gifts and treasures for our children and ourselves.
We were not the only ones to feel this way so 18 months ago we hand built
a tiny Adobe shop at the school and began the ongoing job of sourcing
top quality materials for our community of crafters!
The
shop is now open 4 days a week at the school and we spend our weekends
at local markets, we are finding a lot of people enjoy the originality
of our ever-growing range. We are known for our beautiful colours, hand
dyeing and great customer service.
As we talk to our customers we often hear them express an interest in
buying our products via the Web so we have compiled our 1st catalogue
– we hope you will find that it inspires you . We will continue to look
for quality craft materials to add to our range, so please check our
Website regularly.![]()
If you are searching for something specific for a special project please contact us and let us do the hard work for you – We also offer a Free gift packing service, beautifully wrapped with hand written message card, perfect for spoiling your crafting friends.
Our craft supplies are natural fibres and well sourced. All products are
Australian made or fully researched to ensure they are produced in a
manner which support not undermines local communities. We spend many
hours exploring, to enable us to offer you only the best quality materials.
Therefore you can spend your time and your creative energy on your project
and not shopping for it!![]()
Our work is ongoing and we enjoy it, so please let us know if you require
something specific and are having difficulty locating it. Whether it
be European felt, raw materials for dyeing or vegan threads, if we don’t
have it we will be only too happy to begin the quest!
We keep in stock a selection of quality, traditional craft books and the list keeps growing as we find more to ignite our enthusiasm.
Most originate from the Waldorf/Steiner craft movement, which originated in Europe over a century ago. Rudolf
Steiner was passionate about the role of handcraft in personal development and evolved a complete education system, which included this knowledge.
We feel that this knowledge is just as relevant today, creating something beautiful with our hands is nurturing for ourselves and uplifting for others.
Whether you are looking for inspiration or specific techniques we hope you will find just what you need – and if not please ask.
Our Kits are complete original projects in a box (or bag) just waiting for your artistic interpretation.
All natural fibres and often hand dyed by us, the felt, ribbons and silks are colour coordinated for a fabulous finish.
They make the perfect gift for those hard to buy for ‘crafty’ friends and for the younger members of your family, to encourage a lifelong love of handcraft.
Instructions are clear and concise often with photo guidance, techniques are simple and the completed creation as individual as you.
Our range of kits is constantly developing and expanding, inspired by each new season. We have lots of idea’s (if only we had more time!!)
